Bio:
Though you may never know it if you met me, I was raised on a 106 acre farm just outside of Annapolis, MD surrounded by cows, horses, chickens, and of course, family. It was here where I learned the importance of faith, people, and manual labor — collecting hundreds of 40 lb. hay bales from a field on summer days when the temperature felt like it matched the number of bales. I attended St. Mary’s Catholic High School where you could find me singing in the school’s annual talent show, leading my peers in retreats, and anything else unrelated to athletics.
After graduating in 2015, I made the blind leap to travel across the country to Malibu, CA with my parents in my tiny Volkswagen Golf, packed to the brim with whatever belongings I had at the time. I was accepted to Pepperdine University, and while I knew that I would miss my small hometown and my family, I also felt the calling of something greater. The weather in Malibu definitely did not impact my decision whatsoever.
While I was at Pepperdine, I participated in Americorps Jumpstart, teaching at an underfunded preschool in Reseda, CA, studied abroad in Heidelberg, DE, singing for the Pepperdine Pickups Acapella group, and decided to ultimately pursue my creative side by obtaining a BA in Integrated Marketing Communications.
Just before graduation, I accepted a full-time position for the company I was interning for, Vivid Candi, where I worked my way up to become an Account Manager. Unfortunately, my career here ended with COVID as the lack of people leaving their homes also meant a sharp decrease in marketing spend as businesses slashed budgets. I moved to the insurance industry working for a personal lines agency, but after a promotion to Director of Operations and 5 great years, I decided it was time to make the switch back to my more creative roots before it is too late.
I am now looking for my next position, where I can contribute the skills I’ve learned from my life and work experiences. If you will have me, this next paragraph someday could be about you.
hobbies & interests:
Travel:
During my time at Pepperdine University, I spent one year abroad in Heidelberg, Germany where I traveled to 20+ countries while studying German and Art History. Below is a brief glimpse of some of the places I visited that sparked a love for travel I am sure will last a lifetime.
MUSIC:
As someone who was trained to sing simultaneously with being taught how to add 2+2, music has always been a passion of mine. In 2017, I decided to self-fund my own music during a summer in Malibu where I was working part-time at Pepperdine University. Despite not pursuing music professionally, I gained many valuable skills from this experience including what it might be like to start a business — from coordinating a team, booking and maintaining a calendar, budgeting, and self promotion to navigating an extremely competitive industry.
cars:
I’ve been obsessed with anything that has wheels for as long as I can remember. From driving a Power Wheels Jeep, to a go-kart, then to graduating to the family farm truck in 6th grade, I never could wait until my 16th birthday. It just so happened that same birthday was the one I found out my parents’ idea of a car for me was borrowing my older brother’s Subaru when he was home from college. That summer I saved up to buy my first car, a 10 year old BMW, which taught me how to change oil, filters, spark plugs, hoses, the water pump, the thermostat, the faulty stereo, the clogged heater core, how to diagnose a check engine light, how to unclog overflowing sunroof drains…the rest is history.
